At AKA Case Management, our Case Managers and Assistant Case Managers take part in regular group supervision sessions every six months. These sessions provide an important opportunity to reflect on practice, share experiences and develop our approach to client support.
Throughout the year, members of the team attend events and conferences which help us stay up to date with the latest ideas and developments in our profession. These group supervision sessions are one of the ways we can bring that learning back to the team, reflect on what it means in practice and use it to make a real difference to the way we work and the support we provide to our clients.
The upcoming July session, chaired by Catherine Watkins, Case Manager, will focus on two key areas of discussion, with additional time set aside for catch-up and any ad hoc questions.
The two topics we plan to explore are:
Goals documentation and management – what are we doing across the team, what does best practice look like, and how can we continue to align our approach to support clients effectively?
Parent and family perspectives on the litigation process – we will reflect on our own case experience as well as insights from the BABICM webinar in March, ‘Exploring toxic dependency in the litigation relationship’. Several team members attended and found it highly thought-provoking. We will consider how these perspectives might influence our practice, how we understand the families we support, and how we can avoid unintentionally becoming part of the problem.
These sessions are open to all CMs and ACMs who can attend and provide a focused space to explore different aspects of case management. By discussing these themes as a group, we continue to strengthen our practice and ensure we are supporting clients and their families in the most informed, sensitive and effective way.
