Support Worker – Worksop

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and reliable individual, who has a positive outlook to work within our team. We particularly welcome applicants from people with experience in working with children and in care. Experience in brain injury or rehabilitation would be an advantage, but is not essential as training will be provided to applicants with an aptitude for care.  You will be working with our 7 year-old client to develop his independent living skills and improve his quality of life in his family home and community within the Worksop area.

DUTIES:

Your duties will include:

Within your role; you will support our client in practice and carryover of therapy programmes as set-up and directed by the treating therapists i.e. physiotherapy, speech and language and occupational therapy. You will be expected to support his family in the provision of his care and engaging in leisure pursuits.

  • Assisting with activities of daily living
  • Accompanying to social events/activities

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications:  NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience preferred or care certificate.

Experience: Personal care experience including hoisting/toileting and feeding

Skills: Knowledge of working with a child with brain injury, professional and reliable.

Support Worker – Sheffield

Job Title: Support Worker

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £12.00 an hour / £13.50 evening and weekends

Hours: part time and full time position available, flexible hours including evening, weekends and nights, applicant must be willing to travel abroad

We are looking for a bright, sociable and energetic individual, who has a positive outlook to work within our team. They will be required to support our client in her family home. You will be working with a 27-year-old woman after a spinal injury in 2009. Within your role you will support our client on holidays and social events, including gigs and festivals. Experience in care would be an advantage, but is not essential as training will be provided to applicants with an aptitude for care

DUTIES: To provide practical support and intimate personal care in line with the client’s requests.

  • As directed by the Clinical Case manager and Rehabilitation Co-ordinator provide practical assistance and guidance to support the client in day to day living
  • Responsible for undertaking support as directed by the client, including study, appointments and social activities
  • Support the client in specific areas of physical rehabilitation
  • Communication in line with the communications framework between staff of AKA and the client and client’s family/friends, and produce daily records as required
  • Operate in line with AKA financial and organisational procedures
  • Provide a practical high level service to clients in line with AKA standards of care
  • Undertake household duties and prepare meals

 PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications:  Care qualifications NVQ level 2 or equivalent an advantage, though not essential. Willingness to train in care skills. Care certificate would also be an advantage.

Therapy Support Worker – Worcester

Job Title:   Support Worker

Location: Worcester area

Salary:       £11.00 per hour (weekday rate) £13.00 per hour (weekend day rate)

Hours:        20 hours a week (over 4 days) 11am-4pm approx.

We are looking for a dedicated, flexible and motivated individual, who has a good sense of humour and a positive outlook to work within our team. You will be required to support our client in her home within the Worcester area. You will be working with our 26 year old female client who enjoys horse riding, care of animals, socialising and sports. She requires an experienced support worker/carer/rehabilitation assistant with knowledge or understanding of brain injury to empower her to achieve her goals. The candidate will need to be organised, and forward thinking, with plenty of initiative. The ability to undertake domestic and cookery tasks to a high standard, would also be desirable. Please note that we are only able to accept applications from female candidates at this time due to the sensitive nature of the support required.

DUTIES:

Your duties will include:

  • Providing carry over of therapy programmes as directed by therapists to support development of independent living skills; integrating recommended strategies to improve quality of life.
  • Providing a practical programme of support which ensures physical, social and emotional wellbeing of client in line with the therapeutic plan.
  • Accompany client to social events and with engagement in leisure activities (please note these may occasionally be on evenings and weekends).
  • Support to undertake cleaning and cooking duties within the home.

Therapy Support Worker –  Birmingham (Solihull)

Title: Therapy Support Worker

Location: Solihull

Salary: Day and evening shifts are paid at a rate of £11.50 p/h (weekdays) £13.50 p/h (weekends). Sleepover shifts are paid at a rate of £7.50 p/h (weekdays) and £8.20 p/h (weekends)

Hours: Full time, part time and relief hours are available. Shifts are 9am to 9pm and 9pm to 9am. Staff will be required to work some weekends on a rota basis.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual, who has a positive outlook to work within our team. They will be required to support our client in his home within the Solihull area. You will be working with our 22-year-old client who enjoys playing on his X-box, listening to music, motorcycles and sports (particularly rugby). Our client suffered a traumatic head injury following a road traffic accident which has left him with physical, cognitive and communication difficulties. Our client requires support for 24 hours of the day to maintain his safety and wellbeing, and to support with all his transfers. A male support worker is required due to the need for personal care to be undertaken.

DUTIES:

Your duties will include:

  • Assisting our client to undertake activities of daily living (to include personal care and light domestic duties).
  • Accompanying to social events/activities
  • Working with the client to implement therapeutic routines under the guidance of a multi-disciplinary therapy team.
  • To maintain good communication links with the family, therapists and case managers.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications:  NVQ level 2 or a willingness to work towards this is desirable.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a care/support setting is desirable but not essential as training can be provided for the right applicant. Alternative related experience may also be considered. We also particularly welcome applications from people with experience or understanding of, brain injury, Neuropsychology, Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Speech and language therapy.

Skills: Candidates will have good IT skills, excellent communication and organisational skills.

Personality: A confident, caring disposition and a good sense of humour are essential.

Bank Staff – Therapy Support Worker

Location: East Midlands

Salary: Variable dependant on package, highly competitive rates of pay available.

Hours: Various hours available

We require bank staff who are experienced Support Workers to work with various clients within the South Yorkshire area. We are looking for a bright and sociable individuals with a positive outlook and a good sense of humour. You will have excellent motivational skills along with the ability to inspire others.

Duties will include supporting our clients with their rehabilitation programme under the supervision of their treating team. Clinical guidance and supervision will be provided by neuropsychologists, specialist vocational occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and physiotherapists.

This will be a diverse role and we will require a degree of flexibility in order to work around our client’s timetables. The hours will be variable and arranged to meet the client’s needs and their choices and preferences.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications: NVQ level 2 or equivalent, relevant experience considered.

Experience: At least one year’s experience of working within a care or rehabilitation setting is required, knowledge and understanding of brain injury would be advantageous.

Special Requirements: It is essential that you are a driver with a full clean license.
