Vacancy 1: Brain Injury Support Worker
Location: Bedworth/Coventry
Company: AKA Case Management Ltd on behalf of our client/Irwin Mitchell solicitors
Salary: £18.00 per hour
Hours: 4 shifts per week, at 3 hours each. To be arranged flexibly across the week and to include at least 1 weekend shift, with the aim of establishing a regular shift pattern that meets the needs of both the client and the successful applicant.
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Brain Injury Support Worker who can get to know our client and her family and develop a long-term, supportive, and enabling professional relationship. You will provide person-centred support to a woman in her 60s living with an acquired brain injury, helping her to live a full and meaningful life. The individual resides within a residential care setting, and this role is to supplement existing care by providing dedicated 1:1 support to optimise and enable increased participation within the care setting and in the community. This role is privately funded, and you will be directed, supervised and supported by the private Case Manager, outside of the care home environment. You will not be expected to deliver personal care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enable participation in the existing activities programme within the care home
- Lead and support activities outside of the care home, e.g. shopping or café
- Lead and support short regular visits to the family home
- Work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to implement therapist recommendations and strategies as part of a rehabilitation programme
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with care home staff
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with the family
- Assist with daily living activities, e.g. support at mealtimes
- Promote a sense of independence and autonomy, confidence and social inclusion
- Monitor progress and report any changes to the care team
- Complete detailed and accurate electronic care records during every shift, including handover with care home staff
- Ensure your work complies with safeguarding and health & safety standards
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Qualifications: minimum of NVQ level 2/Care certificate or other related qualification
Experience: Previous experience in nursing/care/therapy or support work, preferably in brain injury or learning disability
Skills:
- Empathetic, patient and committed to improving quality of life
- Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork skills
- Confidence to take responsibility and use professional judgement
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, families, and other support staff
- Excellent record keeping for compliance and continuity of care
- Basic IT skills for record keeping

Special Requirements: Car driver essential. This role is dependent on completion an enhanced DBS check (if not already in place) and provision of documentation and references that evidence previous experience.

Vacancy 2: Therapy Support Workers

Location: Newport, Telford Area
Salary: £16.50 per hour for day shifts/ £17.50 per hour for night shifts/ and double time will be received for bank holidays.
Range of 20 – 28 Hour contracts available
Shift Pattern: Days and Waking Nights over seven days on a rota basis (Flexibility required)
We are looking for experienced care/support workers who are reliable, flexible, and motivated individuals to work within our team, providing 1-1 and 2-1 support within the client’s home. You will be working with a 43-year-old female client. The client has complex care needs and is nonverbal with limited voluntary movement, so is reliant on support for transfers, feeding and engagement. There can be challenging behaviour presented for personal care needs; however, full training will be offered. Due to this, the family have requested female candidates only, with experience in complex care.
Duties: This list is not exhaustive
- Assisting with activities of daily living
- Engaging with the client using communication cards and sensory
- Accompanying the client to social activities
- Provide personal care
- Support with feeding and administering medication
- Supporting the client to attend appointments
- Undertake mandatory and bespoke training in line with clients’ needs and requirements
- Following the support plan
Person specification: Due to personal care needs, the family has requested female candidates only.
Qualifications/Experience: NVQ level 2 or equivalent would be preferable, although relevant experience of working with someone with complex care needs and night waking experience is essential.
Special Requirements: Car driver is preferred but not essential (Client has their own vehicle at therapy support worker’s disposal while on shift)
