We have had a fantastic 2009 and 2010 looks set to be another exciting year! 2009 saw the staff and clients of AKA Case Management continuing their fundraising efforts with the ultimate achievement of sponsoring Sammy, our Dog for the Disabled.
We will be organising another charity event in 2010 and are already aiming to get a pal for Sammy! Keep your eyes peeled fornews on our website. If you want to be part of something big, then please feel free to contact us.
You'll be pleased to hear that through 2009 we were recycling anything and everything we could! As we say in the office - if it's lying around - recycle it! Our paper recycling continues to contribute to the growth of Sherwood Forest by planting a tree for every 10 bin liners of paper and our empty toner cartridges support the Dogs for the Disabled recycling programme.
Our dog Sammy is now looking very grown up being much taller with a thicker, feathery tail. He has had a very busy time this month. In December he helped to host a "Sit, Stay, and Relax" Coffee Morning for his socialisers' friends, raising £240 for the Dogs for Disabled funds. He had his own "Doggy" get-together when he went to the Dogs for Disabled Puppy Christmas Party at Banbury. He had a wonderful time meeting all the other puppies in training and especially enjoyed seeing his brother, Spice, again.
He continues to experience new surroundings and has been to shopping centres, motorway service areas, coffee bars and outdoor Christmas markets. Most exciting of all has been the recent snow. He just loved running, sliding around and rolling in.
Angela and Wendy had the pleasure of meeting not only Sammy but also his Socialisers, Liz and Ray. We handed over the cheque for £769 which put a smile on everyone's face, even Sammy's!
We want to say a very big THANK YOU to all of you for your fund raising efforts, especially our neighbours, Delilah's Deli www.delilahfinefoods.co.uk for all of the kit bags that they have sold. We have now set ourselves another goal for 2010 - a friend for Sammy! Please look out on our website for an update regarding our next charity event!

This section is devoted to sharing handy hints and tips about wildlife, music, technology, travel, ideas and anything else of interest. This month Neil has kindly contributed and sent in some information on our spiky friends and something for you techno-geeks!
Recently I found a hedgehog wondering in my garden. Knowing that it should be hibernating I decided to rescue it! I put it in a cat carry box and went to the local pet shop and bought a rabbit hutch with some hay. Luckily I had some cat biscuits which are ok for hedgehogs! So now I have a hedgehog, in a rabbit hutch, on my patio! It will be hibernating now until March/April time. It needs to be left alone now so I have made sure it has some food and water in there.
Introducing Project Natal for the Xbox 360, a revolutionary new way to play: no controller required. See a ball? Kick it, hit it, trap it or catch it. If you know how to move your hands, shake your hips or speak you and your friends can jump into the fun! -- the only experience needed is life experience! - A very big thank you to Neil for his notes!

Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...
Wendy Hemmings — Marketing Manager
Wendy developed her professional skills in corporate finance as office manager and personal assistant. She is far from stuffy though as Wendy is our minister of fun. She turns a dull day into sunshine, wherever Wendy is, so is laughter.
When not at AKA Wendy will be whooping it up with friends and family, enjoying the company of her toddler nephew or in her beauty salon "The Lakes Beauty Room" providing relaxation treatments to people.
